Couples Therapy
Strengthening relationships through understanding and connection
A Safe Haven for Your Relationship
Couples therapy provides a neutral, supportive environment where both partners can be heard and understood. Whether you're navigating a difficult period, wanting to improve communication, or seeking to deepen your connection, therapy offers a space to work through challenges together.

I create a balanced therapeutic relationship where both partners feel respected, heard and valued. My role is to listen to the needs of the relationship. I assist in facilitating, listening and understanding, identifying unhelpful communication patterns, and developing healthier ways of relating to each other.

Frequent conflicts or inability to resolve disagreements;

Life transitions (parenthood, career change, relocations);
-
Blended family challenges;
-
Different values or life goals;

-
Deciding whether to stay together or separate, and
-
Navigating influences from external factors.
My Approach to Couples Therapy
I utilise the Gottman Method in my couples therapy work, which focuses on teaching couples practical tools to strengthen their emotional connection, navigate both solvable problems and perpetual issues, and break destructive communication patterns. As part of the process, partners will gain a deeper understanding of the emotions beneath the conflicts and learn to respond to each other's needs with greater empathy and compassion.
What to Expect
The couples therapy process commences with an initial 60 minute consultation (broken into two 30 minute individual consultations with each partner). Thereafter, we move into a comprehensive three-session assessment process of 120 minutes (2 hours) per session to help give us a clear, objective picture of the relationship's strengths and the specific areas where we can foster growth and connection.

The Assessment and Feedback Phase
-
Session 1 (120 minutes): The Joint Interview.
-
We'll all meet together to discuss the history of your relationship, the current challenges you're facing, and your hopes for the future. This is a big-picture conversation to understand your story as a couple.
-
-
Session 2 (2 x 60 minutes): The Individual Conversations.
-
I'll meet with each of you individually for 60 minutes to discuss your personal perspectives, goals, and concerns. Prior to your third session, each of you will complete a set of online questionnaires based on the Sound Relationship House Theory.
-
These tools provide a detailed, scientific look at your relationship dynamics and are a core part of the assessment.
-
-
Session 3 (120 minutes): The Feedback & Roadmap Session.
-
This is where everything comes together. I will integrate everything I've learned from our conversations and your questionnaire results to provide you with a clear, structured feedback session.
-
You will receive a concrete understanding of your relationship's strengths and challenges, and we will create a customised, collaborative treatment plan — your roadmap to a stronger, more connected partnership.
-

The Intervention Phase
After the assessment phase, we move into the active intervention phase with weekly 2-hour sessions. This allows sufficient time for both partners to share their perspectives and work through relationship dynamics effectively, ensuring both partners feel heard and that we can make meaningful progress together. This dedicated time each week is crucial for breaking unhelpful patterns, learning, and reinforcing healthier habits. As the newly learned skills become intuitive ways of communicating with each other, we will transition into a consolidation phase, during which the frequency of sessions can be reduced through mutual agreement.
